Applying Mixed Method

            This paper is an instructional analysis of an instructional goal “Students are able to ask, give and decline permission. This instructional analysis is applied for the first class of Senior High School students. This paper will explain the steps which are taken to reach the goal, the teaching scenario, the details of teaching material to reach the goal and the test items to measure the goal and also the method used.
            This is the scheme of the instructional analysis.

From the scheme, we can follow the steps of teaching to reach the goal. And also we can develop the teaching scenario. This is the teaching scenario of the instructional analysis.
The Goal          : Students are able to ask, give and decline permission.

·           The teacher gives a pictures for each two students, then asks the students what are the people in the pictures saying and express it, the teacher gives clues whether the students guess about the picture are correct and express asking permission or not



·           The students guess and give their opinion what the people in the pictures are saying
·           The students express it with their partner and pay attention to their friends’ expression
·           The students can conclude that most of the correct expression are asking permission

·           The teacher also gives a dialog and asks the students to make a new short dialog by changing the expression with another expression given by the teacher in a chain with their friend beside him/her
·           From the dialog students make a new dialog of asking permission by imitating the dialog and expression given by the teacher and express it accurately and rapidly as possible in a chain with their friend besides him/her.

·         The teacher explains in the native language to the students function in English about asking, giving and declining permission in a neutral, an informal and a formal situations by translating into the native language
·         The students listen to the teacher’s explanation carefully
·         The students ask the teacher if there are something or some words they don’t understand so the teacher can explain or translate it into the native language
·         The students make a note of the teacher’s explanation

·         The teacher gives some incomplete sentences and asks the students to complete it with the correct expression of asking, giving and declining permission suitable with the situation whether formal or informal and the students have to understand the meaning of the sentences given by the teacher
·         The students do the exercise given by the teacher individually
·         The students translate it into the native language
·         The students submit the exercise to be marked by the teacher
